There will be a round table on “culture diversity in physics” on January 29, 2020 at 15:00 in the physics’ group library. Our goal is an exchange on the influence and meaning of cultural variety in the Physics Department. Guests will be Vahid Sandoghdar, Manami Sasaki and Sylvia Viola-Kusminskiy. In order to promote a relaxed atmosphere we also serve coffee and snacks for everyone.

From July 23 - 26, 2018 the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light is celebrating three important anniversaries in Erlangen optics:
150 years of optics research in Erlangen, the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Max Planck Research Group for Optics, Information and Photonics (the precursor of the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light, MPL), and 1.5 years of the inauguration of the new MPL building.
The Autumn Academy is intended to introduce BSc and MSc students to the fast moving field of optical science including topics such as quantum information processing, metamaterials, nano-optics, photonic crystal fibres, nonlinear optics, imaging and sensing.
