QS World University Ranking – The Department of Physics among the top 200
Physics and Astronomy among the top 200 internationally
The Department of Physics is represented in the top 200 in the QS World University Ranking with the subject Physics and Astronomy.
Another six subjects among the top 200 internationally
Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) was ranked in a total of 20 subjects. This means that FAU is represented in all five subject areas of the ranking by QS Quacquarelli Symonds, a service provider for educational information.
Also ranked in the top 200 are: Materials Science (95th place), Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics and Astronomy and Chemistry. New in the top 200: Medicine in 172nd place.
To the QS subject ranking
QS Quacquarelli Symonds examined over 5200 universities for the subject ranking and ultimately included a total of 1747 of them in the ranking. The 55 subjects ranked are divided into five subject areas: Arts and Humanities, Engineering and Technology, Life Science and Medicine, Natural Science and Social Sciences & Management. The following categories were considered when assessing the universities and their subjects: Academic and Employer Reputation, Citations, H-Index and International Research Network.
